Stevenage RDA is doing incredibly important work for the community, offering therapeutic riding and horse care sessions that can positively impact the lives of children and adults with special needs. By incorporating horses into therapy, Stevenage RDA helps individuals not only improve their physical abilities but also boosts their emotional well-being. We liaise closely with schools and other organisations to ensure our lessons support the work either within the pupils’ regular school curriculum, or other courses of therapy being undertaken.
Our four ponies are integral to the running of our group. Every pony brings joy and meaningful benefits to both our participants and volunteers alike. It can cost us up to £6000 a year to care for each pony – covering essentials like hay, feed, stabling, farrier visits, dentists and physio, all vital to their health and well-being, so they can continue giving their best to our participants.
You are welcome pay us a visit and meet our ponies to see for yourselves how special they are, by appointment only please.
Donations can be monthly DD or one-off amounts.
Our Ponies Thank you kindly for your support, it all helps in making a difference to many lives.

More about our ponies.
Rupert
We bought Rupert for our bigger participants, even though he is on the chunky side he has a very kind nature and really does want to please. He’s has also proved himself a good horse care pony, enjoying the attention from our wheelchair users. Quirk, he has big feet, watch your toes!
Shadow
A pint-sized grey Shetland, as well as being our Mascot she is also in training to be used as a therapy pony. Shadow has a very sweet nature and just loves being part of whatever is going on, not one to be left out. Quirk, even when being naughty she has the ability to make us smile.
Jay
Jay does like life in the slow lane and often can see him dozing in the corner. He has a lovely nature and enjoys lots of attention. He plays a big part in our lessons often used for our smaller participants. Only quirk is he likes company and doesn’t like to be left alone.
Mabel
Mabel is our newest member. She is a good allrounder who adapts to her rider, is very calm and accepting and has the kindest of eyes. Enjoys being groomed, not a great fan of cuddles would rather have a good back scratch. Quirk, doesn’t like to spend too long in the stable.
We really appreciate any donation, no matter what size, it will all help in
continuing to fund the ponies for the future. Thank you
