Our horses and ponies open up a world of possibilities – in sport, friendships, education, life skills and more. They are non-judgmental, patient and loyal. And, as anyone who has visited an RDA group will have seen, they create moments of sheer joy; a weekly lifting of spirits that can make all the difference in the world.
RDA is a welcoming, friendly and fun place to learn to ride. Children and young people benefit from our activities. Our coaches and volunteers are trained to provide the best possible experience – which includes understanding the therapeutic and educational needs of riders.
As an activity, riding offers lots of physical benefits in areas such as balance, core strength, muscle control and coordination. Our activities are also good for communication, confidence and building relationships.
We meet during school term times:
- Monday 9:15am – 12:00pm (Children from local Special Schools)
- Thursday 9:15am – 12:00pm (Independent Riders)
And are located at Ickleford Equestrian Centre nr. Hitchin. These facilities have allowed us to expand our areas of operation to include non-riding Pony Therapy sessions.
